Related Resources and Services

There are many area services and programs to assist individuals in career preparation and job search. Most of the programs and services are available at no cost to individuals, if they qualify. Qualifying for services may include income limitations or situations and needs where extra assistance has proven helpful in successful career pursuits (such as being laid off from work, having a disability, working on a farm, being an older worker).

Another resource is the Blue Ridge AHEC Health and Human Services Directory, a comprehensive directory of health and human service providers in the central and northern Shenandoah Valley. TestPrepReview.com is a website created by a nonprofit group of educators which provides free practice test questions (ACT, GED, SAT and many others) for people in a variety of career situations. SAT Prep Plan contains SAT practice problems , a customized SAT preparation plan , SAT problem solving videos , SAT vocabulary flash cards and free online SAT test preparation books and materials. Everything on the site is completely free to students and educators. A comprehensive guide to housing and mortgages for people with disabilities may be found on the MortgageLoan.com website; the guide covers terminology, the process of buying a house, financial assistance and more.
